Rama-Ravana Yuddha 12209 BCE

Book Written By Nilesh Nilkanth Oak’
Review Written By Vathukkat Krishnan Kutty.

In this book Nilesh has substantiated The Epoch Of Ramayana countering many other eminent researchers.

The Ramayana is the oldest Epic Of Humanity, written in Sanskrit. It means Rama’S Journey. Valmiki is regarded as India’s Adi Kavi, the First poet, and Ramayana as India’s Adi Kavya- First Poetry. When it comes to epic poetry Ramayana is the oldest epic Poem. Ramayana took place during Treta Yuga.

Only a handful of dates have been proposed for the timing of Ramayana.

There are four specific attempts besides the author to determine the timing of Ramayana.

Proposed Dates.

  • M.R.Yardi -1500 BCE.
  • Pushkar Bhatnagar-5114 BCE.
  • Dr.P.V.Vartak- 7324 BCE.
  • Nilesh Oak 122O9 BC
  • SRS- 10205 BCE.

The research of Indian history is not a spectator’s report. Many western researchers are perplexed by the ability of Indian researchers to propose specific days for the specific instances of ancient events

  1. This was possible because of Luni- Solar Indian Calender.
  2. Meticulous and accurate Astronomy observations going back for more than 25000 years and
  3. Creative means(Allegory, Metaphor) employed by ancient Indian Sages to document these Observations via composition of Samhitas and conducting yagna and other rituals. Ashwa Meda Yagna is performed to be free from past sins.

Three authors Dr.S.P.Sabharatnam, N.P.Rama Durai and V.Sundaram published a book

In 2002 CE by the name Ancient History Of India Through Astronomy. It was published by International Society For The Investigation Of Ancient Civilization, Chennai. Srs Has calculated the day of Rama Janma based on Vedanga Jyothisha.

Mr.Yardi wrote Epilogue Of Ramayana. Yard refers to a statistical study that resulted in the identification of six different styles of writing Ramayana. Mr.M.R.Yardi’S work specifically on the date of Ramayana is a good illustration of the nonsensical methodology employed by Indologists, from India and from around the world during the past three hundred years in researching the history of India

Absence Of Evidence Cannot Be Evidence Of Absence. It is illogical and wrong. Yardi’s work while excellent in exploring cultural and sociological elements of Ramayana is extremely naive and superficial as it relates to codetermining the timing of Ramayana. Yardi has not considered even a single observation of astronomy (or chronology or seasons) evidence from Valmiki Ramayana in proposing his timeline.

Cometary Theory Of Prof.Nara Hari Achar, Or Prof Mohan Gupta,
Theory Of Indicative Power Of Prof.Mohan Gupta.
Theory Of Astrological Drishti Of Dr.P.V.Vartak Or Prof.Raghavan And
The Theory Of Statistical Fitting Of Planetary Positions By Prof.Anand Sharma
are examples of unsatisfactory, unacceptable Auxiliary Hypotheses.

Shri Pushkar Bhatnagar proposed timings of Ramayana incidents in a book Dating The Era Of Lord Rama. He is supported by Saroj Bala and Kul Bhushan Mishra in their book. Historicity Of Vedic And Ramayana Eras-Scientific Evidence From The Depth Of Oceans To The Heights Of Skies. There are numerous observations from Valmiki Ramayana astronomical and chronological that are not employed or evaluated by Shri Bhatnagar. His astronomy software is also faulty.

The moon completes one cycle through its orbit in 27.3 days.27 nakshatras were selected in the nakshatra system and it was used for tracking positions of other astral bodies. A Solar year is represented by a Gregorian Calendar with 12 months and a length of 365 days. The lunar year is made up of 12 lunar months and equals 354 days. Islamic Calendar follows the lunar year. Indian Calendar System Is Luni- Solar Year. Thiti is a lunar day begins at the varying time of day and vary in duration from 19 to 26 hours. The nakshatra closest to the moon on a given day is the nakshatra of the day.

There are two definitions of the lunar month. Purnamanta And Amanta. A lunar month starting and ending on full moon day is purnamanta. A lunar month that begins and ends on Amavasya (New Moon Day) is called Amanta. The author is following Amanta lunar month throughout the book. Indian Luni- the Solar calendar is Nirayana In nature. The Nirayana Year is the time taken for the sun to return to the same fixed point on the ecliptic.

Adihka Masa (extra lunar month) enables synchronization between the solar and lunar years. The invention of Adhika masa is very old and pre-Vedic. Like adhika masa there is also skhaya masa. The sun transiting from one Zodiac into the next is called Sankrantee (San- Krantee meaning full movement.)The transition path of the sun is known as the ecliptic.

Solar year determines the seasons. Synchronizing lunar days/month with solar year is critical for planting and harvesting of crops., a celebration of festivals, initiation, and completion of yagnas and strict adherence to rituals on specific days of the year was all meant for informally educate the society and to aid in the maintenance of calendar.

The Indian calendar has 6 seasons. Vasantha (Spring) Grishma (Summer) Varsha (Rain) Sharad (Pre-Autumn) Hemant (Autumn) And Sisher (Winter) each season roughly made up of two lunar months. A season would shift by one lunar month approximately every 200 years due to the precession of equinoxes. The importance of seasonal observations is due to Dr.P.V.Vartak. there are many similarities between the two seasons of Sharad and Vasant.

Ancient to the times of Mahabharata, a Shravana (Nakshatra) based calendar existed. Shravana was considered the first Nakshatra. This system of Shravana G Anana was initiated by sage Vishwa Mitra,Valmiki Ramayana refers to Shravana as the first month of the rainy season. Astronomers of Ramayana Time used the system of Nakshatra (Wives Of The Moon) Ganana developed by their ancestors to keep track of time.

In the Indian state of Maharashtra The Pre- Monsoon Rain Is Called Mrigacha Paus. It is because during this time the sun is near nakshatra Marha Shirsha. Ramayana tradition of raising the flag of Indra might have turned into what is celebrated as Gudi Padva- In Maharashtra Gudi(Flag). If this is correct the tradition of Gudi Padva goes back to at least 14000 years.

Pushkar Bhatnagar And Srs have accepted references of Sita living in Ayodhya for 12 years instead of twelve months before vanavasa. It is due to transliteration error – The original word Masa (Month) written as Sama(Year) Mr. Vartak And The Author support the transliteration error. Samvatsara means 12 months. Dr.Vartak has interpreted Dwadasha To Mean 20 instead of 12 months.

Mr.oak’s work presented in this book became possible due to the detailed analysis of Dr.Vartak. The author has dedicated this book to Dr.P.V.Vartak Research conducted by Dr.Vartak specifically as it relates to the antiquity of Indian civilization, is of high quality in areas of astronomy, archaeology, genetics, and anthropology. Dr.Vartak recognized the contradiction in his interpretation of the rationale for designating the first nakshatra based on observation from Taittiriya Samhita Vs Based On Observations From Mahabharata. It was the faith in the works and methodology of Dr. Vartak that attracted Mr.oak to Archeo-Astronomy.

Vastav Ramayana Of Dr.P.V.Vartak written in 1978 is classic. It is translated into English as A Realistic Approach To The Valmiki Ramayana.Dr.Vartak has employed Gregorian Calendar (and not Julian calendar) System as a reference system for his work in Ramayana.

Nileshwar Oak has taken the help of comet observation (Lakshmana) from Valmiki Ramayana.

The author employs Hypothetical- Deductive Method -The Method Of Science. The author has studied the works of many great scientists- Kepler, Galileo, Fresnel, Newton, Einstein, Bohr Wigner, and many more. He has read their biographies. He has also studied the works of Karl Popper, Vinobha Bave, and Joseph Campbell And Dr.Vartak.

All versions of Ramayana recognize Valmiki as its original composer. No portion of Mahabharata is to be found in Ramayana; On The Other Hand, Ramopakhyana is part of Mahabharata.Ramayana is called Adi Kavya. Mahabharata author or others have not questioned the same. Ramayana was popular during The time of Pandavas and Mahabharata.

The theory is a sophisticated name for guess; Guess Theory. But it is very important that the guess ie its consequences should agree with the experiments and observations. Those proposing theories should refute their theories themselves. For Deductive reasoning to be sound the hypothesis must be correct-A common form of deductive reasoning is Syllogism in which two statements-A Major Premise And A Minor Premise – reach a logical conclusion. Corroboration is confirmation or support of a claim/evidence through independent authoritative and credible evidence, A researcher must state how he arrived at a time and what evidence led him to such an inference.

ALL theories under comparison should use an identical set of observations in evaluating corroborative (truth) and contradictory (falsity) content ie critical test of observations. A Theory With Higher Truth content and lower falsity content is a better theory than other theories whose truth content is lower and false content is higher.

The author’s theory has two theses.

  1. All astronomy observations are visual observations of the sky.
  2. Ramayana author employed analogies of corresponding seasons, description of nature(flowers, trees, rain tides, stormy sea, etc) sky views, and planetary configurations while describing the incidents of Ramayana.

By doing Error Elimination Experiments 1 TO 71 and conflicting observations 1 to 6 he has concluded. For this Voyager 4.5 TM Software is used throughout. He has proposed Timelines for 47 incidents, events, four observations that defined The Epoch Of Ramayana (10000 BCE-17500 BCE.) These were not explained and/or understood by any of the past researchers.

The authors’ proposed timeline has corroborated 200+ observations of seasons ( their descriptions/analogies)from Valmiki Ramayana. There is documented genealogy of at least 64 generations before Rama and numerous another ancient Indian history.( besides Ramayana And Mahabharata) to be still explored. The research presented in this book pushes the date for the earliest civilization to the 13th Millenium BCE (Ramayana)

The timing of Ramayana(12240 BCE-12196 BCE) AS a chronological marker pushes the timing of Veda (Rig -Veda, Yajur-Veda, Sama-Veda) in further antiquity since Ramayana mentions existence of all three of them.
